Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI), Govt. of India, introduced a ‘Centrally Sponsored Scheme’ – “National Mission on Food Processing”
Food Processing sector has been identified as a priority sector by the Central Govt. as well as State Govt., holding as it does the vital link between agriculture and industry. In order to boost the development for the sector, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI), Govt. of India, introduced a ‘Centrally Sponsored Scheme’ – “National Mission on Food Processing” in the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-2017) and entrusted the States with the responsibility of administering and implementing the schemes. Under the NMFP, 75% of the funding is from the Center and balance 25% from the State.
Govt. of Kerala has set up ‘State Food Processing Mission’ in line with scheme guidelines issued by Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India.
KINFRA (Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation) is the State Nodal Agency for State Food Processing Mission.
