Introduction

KINFRA intends to develop an (EMC) Electronic Manufacturing Cluster of international standards at Kakkanad in Ernakulum, Kerala. The project is intended to create an Industrial Park with all modern facilities for the Electronic manufacturing Industry with assistance from Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India, under the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster Scheme. The objective of the projects to attract investment to the state and to create employment opportunities at large. Kerala with its vast talent pool consisting of graduates and diploma holders in engineering, present an attractive proposition to the EMS industry.

Project Outline

KINFRA has identified 66.87 acres of land at Kakkanad, Ernakulum, which is having easy access by Road to Airport as well as Seaport KINFRA is in possession of the said land and proposes to set up the EMC with the aim to provide necessary infrastructure required for export based Electronic Manufacturing industries. The Demand Assessment by IESA identified the Medical Electronics, LED Lightings, Energy Meters, Set up boxes, Television Sets and Printed Electronics as areas of high potential

Project Components

EMC Kakkanad has been planned with a purpose to locate industrial and ancillary service units in a fenced enclave on an integrated infrastructure model over 66.87 acre of land at Kakkanad, Ernakulum District. The project is planned to be set up in a single phase. For the purpose of project planning, the facilities have been broadly classified into the following 5 categories:
(i) Processing Zone – Industrial Plots,Manufacturing & Support Facilities Complex
(ii) Non Processing Zone – Residential Plots, Commercial
(iii) Utilities
(iv) Physical infrastructure and
(v) Logistical/Transportation facilities

Participation from Industry

Kinfra looks forward to the industry players to participate in the project by means of setting up their units in the park. The EMC SPV shall have51% stake holding by the incumbent units as per the EMC guidelines. The units shall also enjoy the MSIPS benefits in addition to the common facilities set up in the cluster
