Introduction

Global Ayurveda Village(GAV) project is a cross sectorial concept leveraging the interlinkages between Industries and health care. The GAV attempts to incorporate most modern scientific developments in diagnostic and all other treatment aspects with classical Ayurveda. The aim is to bench- mark the project with the Global Centers of traditional medicine and develops it as Integrated Centre of Excellence in Ayurveda to overcome the challenges of this system of medicine in the path of Global Recognition.

Objectives

The project aims to provide an enabling infrastructure, which will address to the current gaps in the growth path of Ayurveda and enhance the opportunities with value added service and an integrated approach with all other medicinal system. Government of Kerala proposes to develop this project with a motive to transform Kerala as the “World Capital of Ayurveda”.

Location

The proposed project is to be set in two sites. Site-1 at Thonnakkal, Trivandrum in an area of 7.48 acres is 33 km from airport and the second Site at Varkala, Trivandrum in an area of 63.25 acres is 55 km from airport. The site at Varkala is blessed with natural greenery with coconut trees and water frontage of 1.25 Km which is one of the best tourist destination centre in the tourist map of India.

Deliverables

  • 100 bed integrative Ayurvedic hospital – NABH certified.
  • Diagnostic centre with modern tools and technology with experts NABL certification.
  • Systematic documentation to generate data for standard treatment protocol.
  • Academic fellowship program for teachers and practitioners of Ayurveda.
  • To develop software for electronic descriptive catalogue.
  • To conduct ROTP, CME, workshops and training programmers.
  • Public Health Intervention.
  • Incubation centre for young doctors
  • Integrated Research work with the support of Nano Technology, Bio Technology & Genomic Research to reinforce traditional medicine. ( includes major areas like medicinal & aromatic plants, nutritional research etc)
  • Generates direct employment opportunities to local residents.
