Kerala has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the first position in the country in Ease of Doing Business reforms, with the highest number of reform areas (9) in the Top Achiever category. Hon. Union Minister Shri. Piyush Goyal presented the award to me today in Delhi, marking a significant accomplishment for the state. Out of 30 reform areas, Kerala earned Top Achiever status in 9 categories, surpassing Andhra Pradesh, which secured second place with 5 categories. This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of all departments in successfully implementing the Ease of Doing Business reforms.
Kerala has made history by securing the top position in India for Ease of Doing Business reforms. For the first time, the state has been ranked as the leading performer, achieving the highest marks across 9 key areas. This recognition comes after Kerala’s remarkable performance, with the state scoring over 95%, placing it at the forefront of the top-performing states. The announcement was made by Hon. Union Minister Piyush Goyal at a conference of state industry ministers in Delhi, where I had the honor of receiving the award.
The ranking was based on the steps taken by states to create an industry-friendly environment, divided into four categories. Kerala excelled in 9 areas, surpassing Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, which ranked second and third with achievements in 5 and 3 areas, respectively. Out of 30 reform areas evaluated, Kerala ranked first in 9 and emerged as a ‘Top Performer.’ The state excelled in sectors such as the single window system, utility approvals, efficient revenue certification, transport infrastructure, employment exchange services, and tax systems.
Kerala’s performance in these 9 indicators highlights the substantial progress made, reflecting positive feedback from investors. This achievement demonstrates the entrepreneurial community’s appreciation of the changes implemented in the industrial sector over the past three years. We have made great strides, but there is more to achieve. Let us continue our efforts to excel in the remaining indicators and maintain our position as a top performer.
